I discovered clay after retiring and attending a local pottery show.  Pottery was something I'd always wanted to try but life and work interfered.  I took lessons from several local potters, then joined a community studio, and eventually started acquiring equipment to work at home. Over the next decade-plus, I attended classes and workshops with many potters, who are the most generous people you'll ever meet. 

 

There are many techniques in ceramics, and I have tried a lot of them.  I enjoy making bowls, mugs, and other items fired to high temps in gas or electric kilns - traditional functional pottery.  I also enjoy alternative firing, creating non-functional art fired quickly using gas, with and without glazes.

I have been influenced by the pottery of ancient Greece and Asia, both the decorative elements and the forms.  Combining this with my love of animals and nature, I have created a line of hand-painted porcelain pieces, both functional and decorative.

I currently work from my home studio, which I share with a small cat and a large car, in beautiful Benbrook, Texas.
